The realme Buds Q were released at the same time as the realme X50 5G. We tested the first realme signed True Wireless headphones and it's a good surprise.
True Wireless headphones have become a must-have. They have become a must-have as the audio jack on smartphones has disappeared. Every manufacturer now has its own.
realme takes the plunge and offers the Q Buds. These True Wireless earphones mark their difference by a studied design and above all a ridiculously low price. You should know that the Buds Q are sold for only 29,99$. What are they worth at that price?
realme Buds Q - A pebble-shaped design
The Q Buds were designed by José Levy. He is the emblematic designer at the origin of the black leather horse of Hermes. He was inspired by the pebbles on the beach of Normandy where he used to play as a child.
The Q Buds and the case are all round. The case fits easily into a pocket thanks to its modest dimensions: 59.8 x 45 x 29.9 mm.
The earphones also surprise with their small size (19.8 x 17.5 x 22.5 mm) and weight (3.6 g). realme did not opt for the stick shape. The Q Buds look like small, light and discreet buttons.
They are comfortable in the ear. The earphones come with different silicone tips for a good fit. They fit snugly in your ears despite their small size, even when you shake your head loudly to the beat of the music.
Autonomy
The shape of the Q Buds limits the size of the batteries. They have a capacity of 40mAh. This gives the earphones an autonomy of 5 hours of music listening and 3 hours on call.
The 400mAh battery integrated in the case extends the autonomy up to 20 hours depending on your use.
The Q Buds keep their promise every day if you don't push the sound to the max.
Note that the case is equipped with a micro-USB jack, which is becoming increasingly rare on smartphones. You will have to use the cable provided in the box to recharge them.
The orders
We find the usual gestures to drive the Q Buds but the control system is a little more advanced than on the other headphones. The classic double tap pauses a music or allows to answer a call.
The Q Buds integrate other more complex functions. A triple tap advances to the next song, a long tap on one side ends a call, and pressing both sides at the same time starts the game mode.
It is possible to customize the touch controls with the realme Link application.
The very low price of these headphones has forced realme to overlook certain functions. For example, we regret that the headphones do not pause when removed from the ears.
They don't cut themselves either when you put them back in their box. It is therefore necessary to think after each use to hang up or pause the music.
Audio quality
Given their price, the audio quality of the Q Buds is a nice surprise. The bass is slightly more present than on other more expensive headphones producing dynamic sound. They also don't overwhelm the high frequencies that can be heard.
The listening experience is pleasant and overall balanced regardless of the style of music. Note that the Q Buds have no sound customization options in the Link app.
What we think about it
realme makes its first foray into the world of True Wireless headphones. The Q Buds have an excellent quality/price ratio. They are not intended for demanding music and audiophiles but they have everything to seduce the general public.
They are not beyond reproach but for only 30€, these in-ear earphones offer a very good listening quality and a pleasant sound experience.
At this price, you can buy the realme Buds Q with your eyes closed and your ears wide open.
